Chavs Throwing Rocks Towards Climbers: Sea Walls, Avon Gorge.

Just a heads-up for Avon Gorge climbers, that a group of around six teenagers were throwing rocks down from The Downs in Clifton, Bristol, into Main Area/Main Wall this evening. I've heard of this happening at least once before, in recent weeks. In addition to throwing rocks downwards - just adjacent to some climbers on Main Area - they were throwing them some distance towards cars on the road! We should have called the police, but our phones were at the bottom, whilst on multipitch!

Might be worth mentioning it to the police so they are aware that this has happened again in a matter of weeks.

Especially in the Gorge! Maybe try garotting them with a size 0 RP?

We topped out yesterday evening to someone practicing his trumpet, scales and then a little Spanishy type thing. It was extremely civilised - especially when he offered us a swig of his beer!

I saw worse at Long Quarry Point. Some little idiots decided to throw down a complete wooden pallet from the cliff top, a few metres from a classic E3. Fortunately noone was climbing on the face at the time!

A friend narrowly missed being fly-tipped on at Holcombe quarry a few days ago. I think the best answer to that is not to climb at Holcombe quarry because it's a dump. And it's sport climbing.
