Heading out to Switzerland come September, hoping to get a few climbs done through France on the way. Was just wondering if anyone could provide a little insight or offer advice on great areas for either trad or sport in Switz.

Much appreciated.

In reply to Connolly8684: Trad at Grimsel in switzerland. Do motorhead. f6a+. 12 pitches, 500m. outstanding rock, the odd bolt but trad is the way.
One of the best days climbing you can find anywhere.

In reply to Connolly8684: you don,t say what grades you,re wanting. There are good routes in CH of all grades and close to roads or in more remote locations. For routes up to 6a you need to get the Schweiz Plaisir guidebooks in 3volumes while Schweiz Extreme covers the harder routes.

If there's a early autumn heatwave, head for the crag at Simplon Dorf (just off the Simplon Pass, near the Italian border). It's high, at almost 2000m asl, steep well bolted schist, grades 6a-8a (mainly 6c-7b). Fabulous position in an open pine woodland with views to 4000m peaks. Oner of the very best summer sport crags in Switzerland. Fab coffee and bread shop in the village too.
