Do you read climbing blogs?

Hi everyone,

I've just started writing a blog about my climbing, time in mountains and the outdoors in general.

I am writing it for myself to keep a more in depth record of my climbing and use it to help focus myself towards my goals. Obviously others can read it, and I'd like to develop it and my writing over time.

I was wondering what do you look for when reading a blog?

Is it to check conditions, inspire or motivate you?

Cheers Olly

In reply to ollyroberts:
Climbing blogs are great but for me to subscribe they have to offer something a little different. That generally means one or more of the following factors:
1. Truly brilliant photography
2. Excellent writing (more than the usual "Plodded up steep snow, nailed the Grade V, good day out")
3. An adventurous spirit and sense of variety
4. Intelligent opinion pieces in addition to trip reports

Hit all four and you're onto a winner!

In reply to ollyroberts: Yeah less grade talk, most blogs I've read are all about grades and ticks, less about the story. I like to read stories. or interesting facts and topics
In reply to ollyroberts: Most of them are self-serving, look-at-me, pointless tripe. The ones worth reading are often not updated very often because the person who writes them are out, you know, climbing and stuff!
