Hey All,

Going to El Choro in September for a week with climbing partner and need somewhere we can ease into things. We both mainly climb indoors so this trip is to really get us outside. We obviously have been climbing more outside since we booked this trip so we have a bit of experience behind us.

Any particular routes/ areas to visit first with grades ranging from 5b-7a? Needs to have protection as we are not brining any trad gear.

Let me know!

First question is - do you have a guidebook yet ? the whole area is good for 5b - 7a !

If you have transport, then Valle de Abdalajis (sp?) is a very good warm up, Valle de Abdalajis#maps

Also Escalera Arabe and Frontales have plenty to get going on, and are closer to el chorro itself. Dave

No, I heard that a new guide book is coming out this month? Or you can get a local one down there.. Was going to buy one closer to the time! Any advise on what one to get?

For a range of grades:

Escalera Arabe

Frontales

Las Encantadas

Los Olivitos, Bedees and Cocina Caliente - Easy stuff to tick in a session.

If you rent a car:

Desplomilandia - *The* option when it's too hot.

Túron - Especially if you like slabs.

Get the new Rockfax, it should be out in August. The local guide is comprehensive but... incomprehensible.
