Any climbing to be had in the German Harz mountains?

In reply to Moggsy: Yes, Granite tors. The area is very forested so the crags can be very green after rain. Lots of cross-country skiing in the winter.

In reply to Moggsy:

A fair bit. From memory a few years ago, park next to the big dam. Walk dow the hill away from it and there are a few crags on the left. The Lowen (Lion) springs to mind.

Also loads of random boulders/small crags in the woods. Great place.

In reply to Moggsy: Limestone too, search for Luerdissen (Ith) crags. Beware the German sport bolting though, it's somewhat spartan. They only exist where you need them, which is fair enough, but you'll often encounter some long run outs on the easier sections.
