The Llanberis quarries are very busy these days, lots of climbers clipping lots of new bolts, who pays for them? The North Wales Bolt Fund (NWBF) has supported new routers with drills, and materials together with subsidised bolts but in the end the new routers pay for the bolts.
The NWBF is struggling with the lack of cash, just had £100 off Ian Lloyd Jones big thanks - he pays for the bolts he uses on all his new routes. But that will buy less than 30 bolts!

It is easy to help out. What do you pay for a trip to the Climbing Wall?

Does any money ever go toward other North Wales areas- i.e. North East Wales or is it just for the Slate quarries and the coastal bolted areas?
I cant remember whether it was Trevor or Dinbren but I remember spotting a few routes which needed attention.

In reply to tek:Yes lots of work has been done by the likes of Lee Proctor in the Clwyd Limestone area inc Dinbren & Trevor Rocks. NWBF has supported this work with free bolts and resin but locals have invested hundreds of their own money as well.

In reply to Chris Parkin: And the north Wales bolt fund has been very supportive with regard to the extensive recent developments on the A55 crags. No fewer than 6 new crags, 8 new sectors and 117 new routes was the tally. Hardly any of this would happened had it not been for the support of the NWBF. Many thanks to everyone who has contributed but crag development is ongoing and it benefits the climbing community in the end. Please contribute to the NWBF and support your sport.

In reply to Chris Parkin: Thanks for all the work.It was noted by a mate a few weeks back that its a shame there is not a sign or something with a text donate system so you can pay as you climb.

Yeah we should have a big yellow ticket machine type parking meter at the bottom of each crag. One with very strong message that you have to pay to climb. Or even better an electric wrist band (which can be purchased from say Pete's Eats) that allows you to clip the first bolt. Without the wrist band the first bolt retracts into the cliff and thus stops your clip-stick reaching the safety haven of the top rope effect otherwise incurred.
