Peter Boardman - the early years

Some of you may be interested in reading these notes written by Peter Boardman in 1981 (possibly for a talk at his old school?) and transcribed by his brother John.

Boardman talks about how and where he started climbing, and the influence of various teachers:

Such was Joe Stanley’s skill that I cannot remember him actively leading us at all. He played the role of experienced adviser. We had the illusion that we were our own masters, independent and in charge of our own survival – unaware that he was keeping an unobtrusive eye on all that happened.
