We are thinking of heading to the lakes for a few days at the end of this week. Has anyone got any crag recommendation for shorter routes (up to 2 pitches), with easy access and descent in the e1 to e5 range.

We live in north wales, is it going to be worth coming up. Done a bit at Shepard’s so we know that’s an option.

You might want to have a look at Reecastle crag.

+1 for Reecastle Crag loads of E grades.

Gouther Crags has a few good mid extreme routes and if often dry as it sits a little out of the main hills.

Raven Crag, Threshthwaite Cove

Iron Crag

Sergeant Crag Slabs Slabby extremes.

Heron Crag (Borrowdale) the upper teir is worth looking at. E1 - E3

Black Crag (Wrynose) has a few good low E grade routes and dries quickly.

Tilberthwaite Quarry is worth checking out for short slate routes many of which pack a punch for the grade. A mix of trad and bolts. E1 - E4.

Burnt Crag in the Duddon Valley must do is the E3 Shifter (E3 6a)

Based on another thread that's currently running, I wouldn't assume that anything close to the road at Wasdale will be dry...

My favourites for quick drying are black crag wrynose and castle rock South (has great e1s but nothing harder, the North crag has cracking harder routes but not a terribly nice place after rain).

Tbh if you're coming to the lakes from n Wales, you've probably got better options at home. Come up in good weather and go on the best crags!

Raven Crag Langdale and middle scout Langdale would be reasonable options.
