I noticed at the weekend that one of the oldest world records in men’s athletics was beaten. The 50,000m track record (2:48:06)  been held by Jeff Norman since 1980. It was beaten by American Tyler C Andrews (2:46:06).

Jeff is still running in his 70s and racing regularly around Manchester. He won the Yorkshire Three Peaks, six years in a row, it would have been seven, but my friend Colin Robinson outsprinted him to the title in 1969. He also ran in the 1976 Olympic and 1978 Commonwealth Marathons.
