When non essential shops re open, where would people recommend going for good trail shoes and hiking boots, near Belper? I’m guilty of only having been so go outdoors in the past, and ordering directly off the Asics outlet. But now I’m keen to get a bit more expert advice and something more well fitted for me.

I recently had to pay about £9 total postage to receive a pair of trainers that didn’t fit and then sent them back - so keen to avoid that pitfall of online again

Cheers all.

I wouldn't touch go outdoors if I needed any support with fitting or selecting the best model for my needs.

For walking boots I don't think you can go far wrong with Outside in Hathersage, north of you but not too far to drive. They also do running shoes.

If you can risk a trip over the border Peak Footwear in Holmfirth is excellent. Karen is very good at fitting running shoes and boots. That's more or less all she sells.

The chaps who runs the footwear section in Outside at Hathersage us excellent. I had struggled for years with finding a hiking boot that suited me. He literally looked at my feet and passed me the perfect fitting boot.

I'm going to put a little plug in here for 'Accelerate' in Sheffield if that's ok, they're also very good.  Less than handy for you, I realise, though they are very easy to get to from the M1.

For anyone who can't wait until 'non essential' shops reopen, they've had quite a lot of practice now at recommending mail order & 'click & collect' shoes based on video/phone consultations.  Goes some way to taking the guesswork out of buying online.

Another vote for Outside in Hathersage, who have a good selection of boots and staff who know how to fit them.
