I'm a relatively frequent runner with quite a few 10Ks and a marathon under my belt.
I started running in Vibrams about a month and a half ago. I'm really enjoying the transition and I've definitely moved to a more forefoot strike. I'm running more economically and definitely keeping a higher pace whilst keeping my heart rate under control.
There have been a few downsides though - one is that obviously my feet and calves are being worked a lot more than with my saucony's. This will just take a bit of transition.
The other major downside is that the routes around my house and fairly undulating and I'm having trouble managing deceleration on the downhills. I feel that if I try and keep my forefoot strike, it forces me to run a lot quicker than I would like and my HR jacks up. If I try to run a bit slower then I find myself really heelstriking and that hurts in VFFs.
Any tips?
