Hi guys and girls,

Wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of a company or guide in the Alps that they know for sure delivers Avalanche courses for snowsports in English? I imagine these are easily available in Cham due it being one of the main centres and such an international crowd there.

Anywhere else, where people have done any sort of course and could thoroughly recommend?

I'm pretty keen on the skiing in Saas Fee and am taking an educated guess that the English option is offered there, but interested in other locations across the Alpine countries.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Mike

Avalanche geeks are well worth a look.  I've done courses with them in Scotland via MR and they were brilliant.  They mainly run ski based courses in the Alps and sound like they would be just what you're after.

Thanks Stu. Those guys look good.

Please keep suggestions coming, as not looking to book anything immediately. I'd love to find somewhere I could combine with a general intro to freeride course.

There a few guides around Zermatt running 1 day courses, there is an institute run 4 day course there for a more in depth view, all available in english. Ortovox also run courses in several different countries. Not cheap though, but it's money well spent.

Henry gives talks in the UK and runs courses in Val d'Isere. I've done both and recommended them.

As Stu says, Avalanche Geeks run great courses. Mike and Bruce are very knowledgeable and good company. Would recommend.

Currently working through this on-line course and it is really good: https://www.mtnsense.com/courses/avalanche-course. Not a replacement for in-person, but great prep and you can revisit the content year after year.
