Hello.

I am off to Bulgaria this February to ski for the first time.

Are there any good books on ski technique?

What books do you recommend?

People have praised The All Mountain Skiier.

Would you recommend it?

Yep, The All Mountain Skier is a great book. I got mine on recommendation about 12 years ago after my 3rd of 4th week and found useful advice and drills in it right away. I've since skied about another 250 days and I'm still finding it useful.

One not to get is 'Inner Skiing' which I reckon was written by a snake oil salesman who has probably never been up a mountain.
In reply to moffatross:

Hello.

Thanks for that.

That is really helpfull.

I checked the not to get book on ebay and there is no desciption by the author or seller.

Must be mumbo jumbo.

Try a few of the freebie videos from the warren smith academy too.

Hello David.

Thanks for the advice and the idea!

Are the videos available on youtube or vimeo?

In reply to Mountain Spirit: you can go to
http://www.warrensmith-skiacademy.com/tutorials/technique-videos/ or put warren smith ski into YouTube. Even better buy his DVDs which are really good. Generally you can find how to ski clips pretty readily on YouTube.

Hello.

I found the videos and the information about fitness, warm-ups etc really helpful!

Will take a laptop or IPad with me to Bulgaria so I can watch the warm-up and cool down videos at the resort - then practice them everyday.

Get some lessons at one of those indoor ski slopes before you go.

e.g. Snozone in Milton Keynes

Hi.

I am going to book some at the Guildford Dryslope first.

I think The Snozone in Milton Keynes might be too far for me.

Get the book too! watching videos is all well and good, but the book will help you understand exactly what, how and why you need to do.
In reply to kevin stephens:

Key Kevin.

I will definitely get the book!

Any other books you recommend?

Never mind the book, these guys are absolutely amazing. I've improved my technique massively from following their videos.
