Hello,

Just returned form working in the south part of the Jotunheim (Eidsbugarden or sometimes called Fondsbu).

The base of the accommodation is at approx 1000m. We were able to to ski from hotel to all peaks. Ice over Bygdin lake was safe at this time.

We skied up, Uranostinden, Langeskavltind, Høgbrøthøgde and Galdeberget. From 1500m to the tops good ski conditions could be found. Under this, was rather mixed with at times rather grabby crust conditions. Generally it was cold during the weekend. Pleasant in the sun, but still -14 on the tops. Great blue sky weather

I´ll be working again next weekend, possible in the Valdresflya area of the Jotunheim. I´ll post conditions report after that.

In reply to Jamie Simpson - Alpine Dragons:

This weekends tour was to the mountains west of Valdresflya. First day we skied up Høgdebrotet. A rather boring looking mountain from the road, however it offers approximately 7km of skiing once you have reached the top. Snow conditions varied but generally safe. We found on the way down some good skiing in some slack gullies. It possible to find some good skiing, you just need to look around a bit.

Sunday, the guys wanted a shorter day with steeper skiing possibilities. Again west of Valdresflya lies a mountain called Rastletinden. Great views from the top. After a cold start (-8 with some wind), it warmed up a bit. Rastletinden is quite a popular mountains (all the mountains west of Valdresflya are due to easy access and long down skiing possibilities), it offers all levels of skiing, including some very steep broad gullies and short sharp glacier hangs. Lower down again we were able to find some good reasonable steep conditions.

Another good weekend. Looks like more snow this week. We have had some wonderful weather the last few weeks.

If you would like see some picture of the tours I have posted on our fb site: https://www.facebook.com/valdresfjellguider/
up-date on skiing conditions.

High winds during last Friday created a very unstable slab layer. Observations of avalanches made through the Friday and Saturday. 400m long crown walls not uncommon.

Today snow is falling. Just as many thought winter was over it comes back. Once things settle down the skiing should be great.
