Has anyone done the classic Silvretta tour recently?

I'm wondering if glacier gear should still be carried or if the glaciers are so small now that it's not needed

Thanks

guess 25 years ago isn't 'recently' but interested to hear what its like now.

I did it about 4 years ago. Yes you need to bring glacier equipment. You don't need to rope up when moving but have your harness and gear on and the rope in the bag.

8 years ago, my experience was the same as cyberpunk. I'd also add that depending on the make up of your group, a rope could be useful  if you intend to reach some summits, like the Dreilanderspitze

Thanks guys: a mixed group with all summits possible: glacier gear will be carried

After 2 years WFH I need to find the beginners to carry the rope

Think I've read in the Eagle Ski Club journal that some cols which previously were skiable now involve some mixed climbing &/or abseils - worth checking with hut wardens.
