Hello, looking for recommendations for ski instructors in Chamonix. Im looking for private lessons for a beginner who can speak English and is not super expensive. Thanks in advance.

BASS in Chamonix provide first class instruction.

Good private lessons and inexpensive are incompatible. BASS range between about £170 for 2 hours to £400 for a full day. This becomes much more affordable if you organise into groups of 2 or 3 of a similar standard.

If you are there outside peak season (school holidays) I seem to remember that ESF are cheaper for private lessons, but with them it is much more of a lottery as to quality and fun and charm

Both very good, may cost more than ESF but are likely to be a lot better

Private lessons for beginners can be disproportionately expensive. A small group lesson with one of the above recommended schools can be very good, well matched, not too big and sociable. One to one lessons really come into their own for address specific issues for more experienced skiers

Second here for BASS, we've used them for the last four or five years and they're fantastic.

Why would a high mountain guide be suitable for not too expensive beginner’s skiing lessons ?

Thanks, I took your advice as it’s very logical. However, the way the companies structure these lessons it seems to be 2 hours a day for three set days. Which didn’t fit our program unfortunately, but thanks! Went with a long morning private lesson with esf in the end, thanks everyone.
