Anyone have recommendations for best crags for beginners to start in Wye Valley (I looked at Wintour's and Ban-y-Gor), preferably sport but could be trad? Doing up to 6a+ indoors but need something much easier to start outside. Thanks! Simon

In reply to Gompertz: Ban y Gornis pretty tough for a beginner, id recommend Tintern quarry for some lower graded sport routes, the 30ft wall there has about 25 routes below 6a on it.

In reply to Gompertz: If you are prepared to wander along the escarpment to find your lines there is enough at Ban-y-Gor to keep you busy for a day, some of the best easier Sports routes there are in this ticklist

Tintern has lots of routes at easy grades, but is an acquired taste, rock quality and ambience are both less favourable than other Wye crags.
Wintour's is definitely best for easier Trad routes, there are several decent multi pitch routes in the easier grades, see this ticklist

Finding the start of routes at Wintour's can be fun especially if none of your party are familiar with the place.
In reply to The Ivanator: Really grateful for those tips - thanks to both of you!
