I was in Cuba on a beach holiday and noticed some limestone crags in the hills outside the resort. I was wondering if anyone has any information about rock climbing in the Cuba. Areas, grades or anything else.
Cheers
Paul.

In reply to Flibble: There was an article in an old On The Edge. Haven't got the details though. Maybe someone else could help?

which resort were you in? most of the developed climbing is west of havana, around vinales which is quite a way inland. we didn't climb when there but it looks awesome.
there's clearly enormous potential all over the island though.

Also a 'what we did on our holidays' article by Neil Gresham or similar person in Climber, Dec 2002.

I went to Vinales for a week last xmas. Its a great experience but there is not much in the lower grades and you would be well advised to hook up with some cubans or others who have been there before as the routes can be difficult to locate, and may involve negotiating wasps nests once you are on them !

e-mail me if you need more info.
