The first issue of a new climbing magazine has just been published. It is called Friction Climbing Magazine and is aimed at bouldering in the UK and the rest of Europe. It has been produced by Rob Elliot.

There doesn't seem to be an active web site associated with the magazine but there is a contact email address on http://www.frictionclimbingmagazine.com

well, hopefully their website "launch" 01/11/04 isn't a mirror of their magazine launch, if so I wish them luck.

Hey everyone thanks for the support on the magazine so far. I’m still taking orders from all over the country. So if there is somewhere near to you (wall or outdoor shop) that you want to stock it get on at them to order a batch. There is escape 2 (midlands) in Warwick stocking them. Bit too far to travel if you live in Nottingham though. If your still having trouble getting one send me a e-mail and we can sort out getting one to you.

Saw it in Inglesport yesterday but didn't buy it - not into bouldering really but good luck anyway.

Without looking at the other thread mentioned above, some tips: try not to have it as "me and my mates did X", obviously in early issues a lot of content is going to be self generated but get hold of a copy of "Rock Action" to see what I mean. The "Last OTE" thread should give you some ideas of how that was perceived even if it wasn't the case in reality. Variety (in style, authors/contributors, photographers etc) will mean that you are "inclusive" rather than "exclusive".

Bob
