I'm off to the south of France in July for two whole weeks of Sun, Sea and. . . . wine? The only catch is I can't go more than 24hrs without hitting the rock.
Now I've heard that there is an awful lot of cracking rock out there and wondered if anyone could give me an idea of the best area's and the best guides.
Im staying in Perpignan and climb anything up to 7A/7A+.

Cheers in advance

Benny,

It's going to be hot. Really hot.

The closest crags to Perpignan are all low-lying limestone sports crags. I think most of them are south-facing as well, just for that real furnace feel. Vingrau, Tautavel and maybe some others.

You'll need to either climb very early or very late for those places.

A much better bet would be to drive up into the mountains. You'll only be 1h30 from the bouldering at Targasonne, and only about 40mins from the bouldering at Eus (spot of the moment, apparently)

There's also some nice-looking granite around the canigou massif.

This page http://www.pyrenees-pireneus.com/ESCalade%20pyrenees%20orientales.htm has a list of sites.

Have a good trip
Tim
