Its ok, dont know if it was just a problem with me but there was far too much bass couldnt even reduce it to a sufficient level. Also the volume wasnt quite right, voice was too quiet so couldnt really omment on the lyrics

In reply to Mick Ryan - UKClimbing.com:

Surely he should be 'cranking easy' up every 6c if he's the real mc? Or is that Yorkshire 5c?

Yes it was a problem with you, you actually clicked on the link and listened to it instead of ignoring it.

Hmmm you mean trad climbers sould only listen to early Genesis and Atomic Rooster, while Boulderers listen to Grown Ups Hate Me by Sk8 Punk Dude? Sounds like pigeon holing to me.

Is this 'cranksta rap'?
 Swirly 25 Sep 2006
In reply to JulianE: More like R&B (grades).
In reply to Mick Ryan - UKClimbing.com: yeah i like it!!
think it could be good for pushing yourself to on a hard route. and with 4 minutes and 42 seconds of it you should be able to get most single pitch routes done.

In reply to toad:

There are those who value the experience as an almost spiritual process of climbing. Making each move in balance with control. It gives the soul meaning when it faces the deep dark hole of failier and then you overcome it.

Hip Hop approaches life differently, it has some good attributes but its trying a bit too hard to complete the experience whilst looking cool and have street cred.

Hence it doesnt suit my approach. I dont care how I look or for that matter climb its the experience and only the experience that counts... Nothing is hidden or false

In reply to Mick Ryan - UKClimbing.com:

Intersting lyrics, I especially like "I slap like Maradonna", but the voice is a bit weak.

I can't decide if it works in the way I perceive climbing - hip-hop lyrics are often very competitive which is true to an extent with climbing. However I like the fact that for me climbing's not a 1-dimensional experience where your only goal is to be better than other people.

In reply to Mick Ryan - UKClimbing.com:

Surely Snoop got there some time before (1993) with his lyric:

It's me
Snoop D-O double G
And I'm climbing.

Although I sometimes (usually at Gogarth) used to get another of his lyrics stuck in my head when I was scared and pushing it out:

Suicide
It's a suicide
Suicide
It's a suicide....

Was the offer of a prize serious? Hope so

No Change - The Climber (2006)
----------------------------------------------
Scratch it's name into your brain (You don't wanna battle me man)
When you check your pockets and they're empty (You're crazy)
No change

Scratch it's name into your brain (Crazy climbers man)
When you check your pockets and they're empty
No change

Yo
Make no mistake I'm a climber
Goin' higher than any other climber
So take a little time 'fore I climb for hit
Do it over and over again - don't slip
That's how it is and how it's gonna be
For the next ten years
Other climbers cry grime tears
I attack the crag, crack
Crap on the game
Spit flame as I'm turnin' the game
Feel the pain and the force of the Trojan horse
You're like, "Ma'am!"

Change be the man, of course I'll take game
I'm a bolder fella not your average fella
Yeah I'm better than the fella
I'm the top spot
Change like the weather
First I move right then left
Take your breath like fright
Bust your head like Mike
Chew your ear <spits>
Fear creeps up on the inside
Like HIV you don't wanna battle me
You're crazy

I figured you out
Soon as you opened your mouth
You drip like tea from spout
You out. I flip from ya
Raps get cornered
Cracks without warning
Splat you're a gonner
I slap like Maradonna
Preliminary attack
Sort out the cracks and breeze
I don't fall back - I cut cheese
I spit my flick knife lyrics so sharp
I'm a climber climbing to art

I take fight like a golden eagle
I'm nice but I got an evil streak from the peaks
I'll be six feet deep before I sleep on a beat
Metal pins in my feet. Don't speak
You're too weak to compete, or climb
I climb, climb, climb
'Til the sun don't shine
What's yours is mine
What's mine is mine
I don't walk on the line
This pressure make me shine
So special in time
It makes you high (Woo)
Climbing makes me tick
Makes me feel alive
My delivery's sick
You can close your eyes
As I start to tear this place apart
Wear my heart on my sleeve
Speak with my heart
You're numb like a cracked back thumb
Like a crag hop son, I'm from
Where you don't come from
And I go where you just don't go (Oh no)
Other climbers just don't show
When I flow
People say I'm gonna be rich
But that ain't it
You just don't get it
Don't think I want cash
But that ain't it
That's not why I climb
I climb 'cos I love this grit (Crag heart, crag heart)

I wanna shout to my boys
Box props, come on
See my song, pop a lung
Britain... ENGLAND!
Yorkshire as I torture
Grit like the ripper
Flip her grit all over the place
You can call me grace
'Cos I'm amazing man
The heat from the grit's burning up my hand
But I won't let go 'til I choke
Grope, throw an overthrow
Hope that I will don't hope that I won't
'Cos I leave other climbers in the shade
Other climbers in the game gonna fear my name

I'm raw like a twelve bore
Salt to the brook
Messed up on the floor
Head like a see-saw
Everything through the eyes of a high guy,
Wise guys got me climbing well tonight

And from the look on your face you're about to cry
'Cos you claim you're a climber just like me
But you're not like me, do dry your eye
No change bein' one and only
I'm slick and I know it
Spit grit like a poet
You don't wanna say it
But I know you know it
We can play that game
'Til you're blue in the face
Til you're huffin' an' puffin'
Like you're running a race

Outer space into orbit
Round all the planets and back
I'll attack with class
Stand back and relax
Coming shockwave
On a knife edge
Like a razorblade
Say what I gotta say
Have it no other way
Make way
For the king of the sing song
It's ping pong, spit grits
Call me King Kong
Switch like a TV channel
On my chi
So I breathe easily
Ya can't teach me nish

Hee hee ticker ticker tee
Sip a cup o' tea
Take a look at me
Tell me what you see, G
Altitudes are changing
Hearts are racing
You'll all be praising
Bowing down to the ground
I'm amazing
Somethin' special happens every time
When I climb, when I climb
To the stars in the sky
I define what it is to climb
What it is to shine
On a crack like diamonds

And I'll climb some line for blind
But some blind to the climb
Blind to the line
Blind to the way that I peak
I'm deep like the ocean
No controlling this
I'll take the risk
With emotion. Oh, son
Act like you don't know son
I'll toast them, roast them
Now just back the attack up
Back to the start of the crack
And don't think, don't even act, don't react
You can leave with your pride intact
Even if you crap out
Clap, how about that?
Nigger tempt me, push me, pull me
'Cos I'm fine with the way that I climb
It's mine

Scratch it's name into your brain
When you check your pockets and they're empty (Yeah, Yo)
No change

Scratch it's name into your brain (I'm fine with the way that I climb)
When you check your pockets and they're empty <laughs>
No change

Scratch it's name into your brain (You can't touch this)
When you check your pockets and they're empty (Aw yeah)
No change

Scratch it's name into your brain (No change)
When you check your pockets and they're empty
No change

<laughs>
