The requipping of sport routes is becoming established and organised all over the UK.

In Yorkshire Dave Musgrove, Paul Clarke and friends have been active for a while and they are still busy. Due to the efforts of Jon Fullwood and Paul Bennet the Peak Bolt Fund is up and running (Donate here http://ukbouldering.com/boltfund.htm?) and the Martin Crocker led efforts has given the Cheddar Gorge a new lease of life.

In article for UKClimbing.com Mark Reeves gives us an update on the progress made by the recently established North Wales Slate Bolt fund, but all is not straightforward.........

"In the main the whole process has been to replace the old bolts with new, but along the way we have come across some other issues attached to fixed equipment, that of pegs..........On top of this there has been times when re-equipping in the esoteric backwaters where simply to replace bolt for bolt would have been a fruitless activity, where the bolts would have sat there for another twenty years before seeing a repeat ascent. Whilst it was never a goal or aim at the beginning of the process retrospectively adding bolts has over time become a growing issue."

In reply to Mick Ryan - UKClimbing.com:

Excellent update on some sterling work that deserves all our appreciation.

Pity UKC Eds could not spot the 14 spelling and grammatical errors before posting it up though.

In reply to Mick Ryan - UKClimbing.com: It's made me want to go and climb on slate, which cannot be a bad thing.

Thanks
Doug
