Anyone visited Wadi Rum got recent first hand experience of flying out to Egypt and approaching Jordan from Israel ?
Although this is supposed to be a fairly regular means of approach I'ld like some beta on just how much hassle there was getting through border posts and just what sort of time it all took.

In reply to steveB: I don't know about the Israel/Jordan border, but I know you can get a ferry from Egypt to Aqaba without going through Israel if that helps.

Wadi Rum is awesome, hope you have a good time.

We flew directly to Amman from the UK, so I can't advise on border crossings, though tension is sure to be high at the moment. The Foreign & Commonwealth Office might help.

Our 2001 report at http://www.pardoes.com/climbing/jordan.htm will be a bit old now, but should give you a flavour - enjoy!

I once went:
Fly UK to Cairo
Taxi Cairo to Port Said (arr 04.00hrs!)
Local bus Port Said to Nuweba (across Sinai penninsula)
Ferry Nuweba to Aquaba (arr. god knows)
Taxi to Wadi Rum

All in one hit.
The things you'll do to get where you wanna go.

One maybe bit of useful info: Had to buy visa to enter Egypt @ Cairo and again when re entered @ Nuweba on return. Try to fix up a multiple entry beforehand?
