I'm planning a photo trip to Iceland. Any top tips for great locations. Thinking Big Country. Wide panoramic shots.

In reply to skelly: Quick search of Luminous-landscape website found this 'locals' website http://www.danielbergmann.com/iceland/ but there is loads of stuff buried away in the old pages of LL.

Iceland is an amazing place for scenery. My personal recomendation would be godaland above thorsmork (actually spelt with a funny icelandic letter that looks a bit like a p so looks like porsmork). For a few examples see the holidays section of my flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/taine/
for a wider range see my mate's flickr site http://www.flickr.com/photos/bigfez/

I'm trying to think of anywhere in Iceland I wouldn't recommend.

One place that springs immediately to mind is Myvatn and area up in the north. Beautiful area: lake, volcanos, lava formations, hot springs, relatively green bits. Plenty of wild bits.

Another place I've been to is Tungnafellsjokull in the centre. Very remote and lots of potential for your wide panoramas. One thing about Iceland is that the air is very very clear. If you get up high, it's amazing how far you can see.

I've also been down to round Myrdalsjokull in the south and I'm sure there's masses of potential there.

Good luck and I hope the weather is kind to you.
