I used to live over the road from the Queens Park bouldering area. The decision to chop these bolts was definitely the correct one. Sure it is 4 metres high and in some parts probably overhangs nearly 3 metres, but it definitely didn't need bolts. With some enthusiastic spotting it wouldn't be a problem to boulder there. Also there are some bolts over the top and plenty of trees and fences to set up top routes for the more desperate problems. The bouldering is in a park right in the guts of the city, does not mean that we have to treat it like the rest of the ego conscious society treats everything in Sydney. That is all, sorry for the rant.
