NEWS: Slovenians Climb Lake District Birkett E8

A band of Slovenians climbers hit the Lake District in early June after seeing Set in Stone, the film about Lakeland climber, Dave Birkett.

They were inspired. Langdale resident, Steve Ashworth reports.

Erik Svab might be a candidate for your "all the 8s", Mick. Not certain if he has climbed an 8000m'er but he seems to have done all the others.

Yeah I think we were there the same day as these lads, spoke to the Italian guy at the top of the crag. They were cranking, working the route during the afternoon and he sent it later in the day (he said he pre placed all the kit though)!

Well if they're anything like the recent Australian visitors, they'll be soloing E8s by torchlight...
