On October 8th 2007 the Huber brothers, Alex and Thomas, climbed the Nose of El Capitan in 2 hours 45 minutes 45 seconds, breaking their own speed record set four days previously by over 3 minutes.

In this trailer for their 2006 film, Am Limit, the Huber brothers demonstrate how they climb so quickly.

Amazing stuff, but it just goes to show that like the rest of us these great athletes have bad hair days.

A sponsorship deal with Head and Shoulders may be waiting in the wings...........

Saw the film a few months back - technically very impressive but the brothers I though were depicted in rather a poor light in the film - made them seem really boring.

Translates roughly as:

Alex: you look fanastic in this light.

Thomas: thanks I'm just so amazed how great we are. Even greater than we were the last time you told me.

Thomas: you climb as well as I do and that's saying something because I am amazing.

Together: we are amazing.

Voice over: Alex and Thomas are absoltuley amazing climbers.

One is a down to earth family man, the other a god amongst men that takes his shirt of without prompting but especially when girls are near.

And it is The Huberbaum, not Alex and Thomas, they are one!

I did witness what is under those leather trousers once in Tuolumne. But sadly I didn't have my camera.

No they don't!

The editing together of lots of speeded up micro-snippets from a climbing video, in an attempt to promote the product certainly doesn't show how the 'Baum climb so quickly - though they obviously do! - nor does it succeed in making me want to go out and buy the film.

As Craig so perceptively put it - crap video.

Now what would be genuinely interesting would be a film showing a fixed frame of a section of the Nose, taken from a tripod mounted camera in El Cap meadow. The speeding duo would suddenly appear in the bottom of the frame, race upwards and then disappear from view - and you would thus have a much better idea of just how quickly they are climbing.

Coming soon to a YouTube near you, I hope.

Not too sure which one is which, but either Ant or Dec looks like the lead Singer from the Chilli Peppers!

As far as I can make sense out of their very strong Austrian accent are they talking about the fear that gives them very memorable moments, am that climbing together is special cause they are brothers.

Bit cliffhanger, isn't it?

Er... tried, but the mubbled Austrian is hard to hear properly. The voiceover's nice and easy to understand, talking about "the most famous climb - The Nose". A Huber says how cool it is that it sticks out, and voiceover adds that competant climbers take 3-5 days. The Hubers want to do it in 2hours 30 minutes.

Then it launches the brothers saying that this is a dream, and they're definitely not giving up, as there are more challenges out there on the limit... Further, there is a fear of being where noone else has been before, and that overcoming that fear requires such an intensive effort - it's something they (the Hubers) are building a reputation for being fearless, and thus finding unforgettable experiences.

There has never been for us any climbing partner other than the brother, so naturally we attempt this together.

The fear that you get before launching into something like this is such that [no idea what's being said - possibly something about being certain in the moment of where you're going / equally possibly it's something about needing to be well rested and prepared]

5... 4... 3... 2... 1... and go!

[insert climbing and mad dyno]

voiceover - for some things in life, one must pay a heavy price. You don't achieve them otherwise...
In reply to Mick Ryan - UKClimbing.com:

Possibly the worst climbing video I've ever seen. What on earth was the matter with the editor? It can't be easy making such an achievement look this crap.

Ahum, was corrected by a colleague- its not Austrian, its a 'Bayern' accent... Doesn't make it any better though.

In fact this is only the trailer for Am Limit, the film about the unsuccessful previous attempt at the record in which they nearly kill themselves twice.
The film was nothing like the trailer - much better and amazing technically, but a bit low on "plot" (human aspect a bit flat).
