The fifth
Edinburgh Mountain Film Festival is being held next weekend (19-21 October) at the George Square Lecture Theatre.
Showing are 25 films together with speakers Stephen Venables, Barry Blanchard, Ian Parnell, Cameron McNeish and Karen Darke.
Serious issues are explored in
Dying for Everest which looks at the morality of climbing in the Death Zone through the eyes of Mark Inglis who reached the summit of Everest last year. However, Mark was strongly criticised for failing to help an incapacitated climber, Englishman David Sharp, who later died on the mountain.
