Heading down to Cheddar tomorrow for the long desired shot at Corrie.

A few questions:

Is it in condition? Looks like black clouds tomorrow but cross fingers no rain. I guess it hasn't rained in cheddar for at least a good few days? Is it particularly vegitated from the summer?

Planned on getting there for 10am start. I've calculated we should be up and down in 6hs. We are a reasonably competent team so is this fair? How long is the descent?

Being so long, was wondering if worth bringing a small pack for water/food/shoes. Is this going to get in the way with all the chimney's? Half a mind not to bother, but could get v thirsty after 6hs.

Any specialist gear required? Should we bother with big cams or hexes? Was planned 2 sets of wires and 7-8 cams. Lots of extenders I guess for the traverse pitch.

Anyone else likely to be there to disturb us?!

In reply to Owen W-G: I would go heavy on your runners, plenty of wires, would say big cams are particularly necessary, maybe up to a friend 3.5. As for shoes - I would its about a 20 minute walk back down with a section of 279 concrete steps! As for a pack - why not just clip water to your harness? Shouldn't be a problem though - the chimnies are not desperately tight...

In reply to Owen W-G: 6 hours sounds a bit pessimistic to me, I'd estimate we took about 3hrs for the ascent and we weren't climbing particularly fast. Add another half hour for the descent. We had trainers clipped to the back of our harnesses but no pack and no water.

Only a standard rack is required, mostly wires but I think we might have used the odd friend here or there. The traverse is quite short and I only got one bit of gear in at the start.
