"The guidebook said Difficult, but I wasn't sure what that meant.

I had heard other climbers say Very Difficult was easy so presumably Difficult was easier.

How could Difficult mean easy when in every other walk of life it meant what it said?

Confusion undermined the search for truth............"

In reply to Mick Ryan - Editor - UKC: "Possibly the best Diff in England" and a photo of Tower Ridge FFS.

Grrrr.. English scum...

In reply to Garbh Coire:
The photo does seem out of place, but the article is about Bowfell Buttress and the title presumably refers to that.
'Grr' may be fair enough, but I hope there's some humour I don't get behind your closing remark.

In reply to Garbh Coire:
Don’t be so touchy.
I posted a picture of Tower Ridge because I didn’t have one of BB. I didn’t realise the picture had to be specific to the climb. I happen to think that Tower Ridge is a great route but I specifically said the best Diff in England, not Britain, in the obviously vain hope of not offending people. This is a true story of what it felt like on my first lead, nearly forty years ago. Nothing more.
