NEWS: 161,580 metres Climbed at Manchester Climbing Centre

Last weekend saw climbers at the Manchester Climbing Centre taking on the challenge of climbing the height of the Seven Summits (43,322 meters) in 24 hours, in order to raise money for Christie's hospital .

But 43,322 metres wasn't enough and the event morphed into the Fourteen 8,000-metre peaks Challenge, giving a target height of just over 115,000 metres. ...... and then extended again....Phew!

In reply to gingerkate: no one has mentioned that the amount of food supplied was immense. Truly an amazing event, well done to everyone who helped, particularly those ladies with all the food!

It was a great effort. Worth noting that the pros didn't have it easy either. A team from Manchester uni were making them sweat and only climbed 150m less. Neverless a splendid effort by all who got involved. Good banter.
