It seems like they're all at it. In our recent news item on The Climbing Works, we reported a cash prize for the first to complete a 'special' boulder problem. It would appear that this trend is growing, with Climb Newcastle running a similar competition.

The Climb Newcastle competition has a twist; they publish a video showing exactly how the problem is climbed, giving all competitors the chance to gain valuable 'video beta' before the big day...

In reply to Jack Geldard - Editor - UKC:

its a good idea to get people climbing harder, but do we really need an incentive to climb?

In reply to Legendary Stu:

Er...it's called a competition.

Darn it! What a smooth ascent of a great looking problem.

That's it, I'm off to the wall.

In reply to Mick Ryan - UKClimbing.com: I think January's Climb Newcastle problem is a rollover so it is worth £100!

There's got to be an easier way to make £50.

Failed! He didnt match the finish hold....
In reply to Jack Geldard - Editor - UKC: This problem was actually worth 100 quid as it was a rollover from November. Alas the route was sent on the 16th of Jan by Micky Page, He also won the 50 quid from Novembers route too so theres no point going in search of 50 quid until Febuary.

In reply to Jack Geldard - Editor - UKC: I'm sure that foot hold was a bit loose in that video... M
