Where's the best place around Southampton to shop for climbing shoes?
I know about Cotswold in Hedge End but their rock shoe range is a little limited.

Cheers

Only ever been to cotswold out of general lazyness - maybe try snow and rock in Portsmouth? http://www.snowandrock.com/store_portsmouthsuperstore.htm

Not sure if there is a shop at Calshot - be worth looking

I left Southampton in 2001, but from the other posts, it sounds like nothing's changed. We used to just wait for a trip to the Peak or Wales and buy our boots from the spcialist outdoor shops there.

Nope. I live a few miles up the road from Calshot and when I want any gear I go to Llanberis or Hathersage.

john, thank you but don't think Calshot has a shop, unless I'm being particularly blind which isn't unknown.

James, thanks as well and snow and rock will be getting a visit this evening.
Just moved down here and had the geniune pleasure of the Square and Compass 2 weekends ago. Someone even offered us money to buy a pint cause we'd forgotten to bring cash, brilliant introduction to the south for a stingy scot.

Cheers

It's a fair drive, but Pegler's of Arundel has always received good reviews from friends of mine who still live in the south of England.

It is a fair drive, but Arundel and the countryside around it are lovely so make it into a day trip!
