[Zhenja Kazbekova catapulted from the classic F7c+ - Catapult! 320, 2 kb]Yesterday Ukranian climber Zhenja Kazbekova redpointed New Kenigsberg (F8a+/8b) at Red Stone, Crimea. Zhenja is 12 years old.

however, as always in these news items, the question is worth bringing up - does this sort of standard of climbing/training in young bodies have any developmental risks not associated with adults training?

In reply to UKC News: Hmmm this reminds me of when the state used to pair up Gymnasts to genetically create the best Russian Gymnasts in the world - of course I couldn't possibly suggest that there was any atate involvement here, could I?

Impressive, but doing that sort of climbing at that age with no helmet, you have to wonder how long she'll be around.

In reply to grindelwald: What hard overhanging sport routes with clean fall zones? Yeh people are dropping dead all the time falling off those without a helmet.
