Yeah, and I heard he sometimes climbs without ropes. It's irresponsible and sets a bad example. Can the BMC do something to ban these activities before our kids all become brain-damaged free-soloing maniacs?

Nice to see you embracing that ethic in the mighty Ilkley Quarry (probably the closest thing we have to Indian Creek here in the UK). Do you realise what a poor example you're setting to the yoof?

Brilliant video - now I know what is required to climb hideous overhanging offwidths, I've crossed them off any future ticklist.

So, having been repulsed by several offwidths in my time, Im wondering - under what circumstances is it best to go feet-first? Is it cos its so overhung?

In reply to reflux: I went feet first through the overhang on Jeepers Creepers at High Neb. Worked for me, but cant really explain why...

In reply to Sean_J: Just come back from Indian Creek. Only the euros wear helmets and then quickly you shed it as you look really stupid. All is one pitch sports climbing. Very steep and smooth so not too much danger of rocks falling from the cliff. If you fall, you slip down the crack feet first.

In reply to francoisecall:

Dont know many people (european or otherwise) who would wear a helmet on a single pitch sport route.
