[Pete Robins at the belay of Liquid Ambar, F8c after his successful redpoint ascent., 3 kb]Llanberis local Pete Robins has repeated the legendary sport route Liquid Ambar (F8c) at Lower Pen Trwyn, North Wales. The route, first climbed by Jerry Moffat has had repeats from only Ben Moon and Rich Simpson, until now.

"It's the hardest thing I've ever done for sure." said Pete.

Thats amazing!

I've a bit read about this on Chris Doyles blog over the last few weeks. Pete must be chuffed to have finally got it after all that effort.

I see on the north wales limestone wiki that this got an upgrade to 8c+...

That's brilliant. Been reading Doylo's blog a bit too.

I really like the photos, so obvious how happy he is to be at the top and a homage shot the same as the old Jerry one too.

When did Jerry change the name then - all the publicity way back then was spelt Amber.

I'm pretty sure it was (rightly or wrongly) 'Liquid Amber' in the mags when Richard Simpson did it a few years ago (2000ish?). Anyway... a fine effort whatever it's called!

Most miss-spelt route name in the world then.

Well done Pete - good effort!

It had been spelt wrongly for years. Jerry's biography, published early this year, cleared up what the real route name was.

In reply to UKC News: Well done Pete, stunning effort. I'm sure you must be over the moon with this one.

In reply to andy farnell: Aye truely inspirational. Saw him flash the ashes with consumate ease a few weeks back, and that was after a day/week of hard route ticks.

Cheers

Typically, Jerry told me it was Liquid Ambar, with an 'A'.

"Bloody stupid mags have been spelling it wrong for years."

Pause

"Although I think I might have told them that it was spelt with an 'E'."

Brilliant effort Pete.
