He is a qualified UIAGM mountain guide and author of two books; Learning to Breathe and the sequel Thin White Line that was published in early 2008.

... and waste no time whatsoever practising climbing upwards.

Get fit and fast by all means, but

...spend a large amount of your practise time on rapid, prolonged, descents on steep loose ground.

Epsom is nearly London, its the one i'll be going to from South London anyway, fantastic article, a real inspiration as always.
