[Ryan Pasquill F8c/+ & Sheffield based climber Ryan Pasquill has redpointed the Jerry Moffat test-piece Evolution (F8c/+) at Raven Tor in the Peak District.

Pasquill has also been active on the grit, repeating Toy Boy (E7 or highball 7C+ ish) and grabbing the first repeat of the highball That's My Lot at Rivelin.

Evolution, is that the one where Jerry the genius published the beta in High so no one could flash it?

Shrewd thinking Mr Moffat

In reply to 3leggeddog:

They could if they hadn't read it.

In reply to UKC News: I don't want to be pedantic and I'm certainly not trying to take anything away from a great ascents, but Toyboy has never been mooted as an E8 (originally given E6 I think, later upgraded to E7) and as Ryan bouldered it out above pads (I was there) I know he certainly won't be giving himself E6, 7 or 8 for it. By modern reckoning it's a 7c/+ highball into much easier solo terrain. E7/8 just doesn't seem a very accurate way to report this.

No sh*t

In reply to 3leggeddog: You can still flash it if you've read the beta, just no onsight.
 kareylarey 08 Dec 2009
In reply to UKC News: Well done Ryan!

I'm suprised That's My Lot hasn't seen more repeats, I think Pete Whittaker had his eye on it for a while...

You must have a different definition of the word to me then.
( And a higher estimate of the readership of High too.)

Just a note. The close up pic of Ryan is pretty grainy as when i was getting these shots it was pretty dark. I was shooting RAW but there is only so much you can do to artificially add light in Lightroom!

The corner to the left of 'That's my lot' is quite good as well. HVS 5b i think - not sure what font grade though.

Who is this Nik Jennings? Has he done anything else hard at Rivelin?
In reply to bentley's biceps: I hear he's a giant. And very modest.

Well, quite modest. But still a giant...

I heard that he's 6'4", 18st, and once wrestled a grizzly bear to the ground.

Arete's are his thing, put him on a wall and he is useless...

In reply to Dark Mavis:

True that. I think it's called The Piglet and it's fantastic.

The Two Toms up the fairly bold wall just left is an excellent E1 too.

I'd always assumed Rivelin Quarries would be green in winter, but might have to check them out. It's a great place.
