Forgive the alliteration in the title

I'm not planning on climbing Gaia any time soon, however, I was wondering what gear is used, just out of sheer curiosity. I've watched loads of videos where people fall off and the gear seems pretty bomber. Is it a cam or a couple of nuts etc..
