In reply to UKC News: I imagine all of these new routes are going to seriously mess up future guidebooks as they are unlikely to come into condition again for another 10 years.

In reply to UKC News:The thaw has set in well and truely on the west. I did No.6 gully yesterday and again today ( http://alanhalewood.blogspot.com/ ) and it was a different route this morning (in fact bits of it are probably gone by now). There was evidence of some wet snow on the move and there are large patches still sitting high on the west face of Aonach Dubh. As these saturate in the rain they will release and pour down the gullys. The ice bonanza here may well be over for the moment, could be a weekend for that DIY if you don't have to be out!

I think most the low level falls that have been climbed of late have water running behind the ice.
