I have read cloudspotters guide but want to know more. Anyone got a book to recommend?

I don't understand the weather here in London today - no rain but incredibly 'wet' damp air - what causes this, for example? This is the sought of thing I want to find out.

In reply to Paul Doran:

This is my favourite.
Mountain Weather for Climbers by David Unwin

A small book covering the fundamentals and considering mainly a British situation but also the Alps.

The Pedgley book also seems highly regarded.

Also try the metoffice site.

In reply to Paul Doran: "Atmosphere, weather & climate" by Barry & Chorley was the definate text when I was at Uni.

For mountain weather try Martin Moran's "Scotlands' winter mountains" ( I think it is out of print - which is a shame as it is very good for lots of mountaineering stuff)
