[Ben Heason climbing Meshuga - E9 6c at Black Rocks, 3 kb]On Saturday 27th March Ben Heason headpointed the Black Rocks test-piece Meshuga E9 6c.

“Meshuga is one of the few remaining grit routes I was motivated to headpoint, and I'd wanted to climb it for years; that photo of Seb on the cover of “Hard Grit”, a constant, nagging reminder..."

In reply to VolkMan: If your tired id suggest going to bed for a bit.

On topic: a very impressive ascent, made it look like a piece of piss.

Awesome effort from Heason - more to come I'm sure. Sorry Volkman - I think we missed the news story about you doing it.....

This route has also been soloed twice, by Kevin Jorgeson and Alex Honnold.

In reply to Mick Ryan - UKClimbing.com: Indeed. But how does this relate to my question?!
 Michael Ryan 06 Apr 2010
In reply to Removed User:

It doesn't. I'm adding more information on the route. It's history.

It was repeated by Toru last summer on the same day he did Childs Play/Nocturnal Emission (Direct on Parthian Shot)

Nice one Ben.
Made it look quite easy. I'm guessing the hardest bits are low down, just above the crap gear.

Not as excited as when i am doing them, but it is very much of interest. It most certainly does not warrant some random on the internet degrading the effort it takes to climb these routes. If it isn't of interest, don't comment. Easy.

Yeah, E9's are climbed every week nowadays.
 Franco Cookson 06 Apr 2010
In reply to VolkMan: please explain why an E9 6c is not news-worthy?

Even if it happened every week, UKC has daily news reports, so it would be news worthy. You're a funny old man.

They are aren't they?

Now,

climbers doing summer ascents of winter routes would be newsworthy

IMHO

Not as far as I know. E7s and 8s are climbed much more regularly but ascents of E9s are still fairly unusual. Besides you can't sum up a route entirely with the grade. Meshuga has still only had, what, six ascents? And two of those were by people that hobbled away with a nasty concussion after earlier failures.

In reply to VolkMan:

I'm not so sure it's actually news. More like a Wild Country 'advertorial'.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that.
I also enjoyed the 'Good work, dude' as the finale to the most uninspiring. monotone support I've witnessed in a while.

I am with you! I was being sarcastic towards 'volkshisface'

In reply to VolkMan: SILLY SAUSAGAES. i personaly beleive, that the best climbers are the ones having the most fun. whatever the grade, and for the record i am rubbish, and enjoy poking fun at those better than me. it makes me feel good inside, and is more manly than doing it to someone beneath me in the "grading" scale
