Any recommendations for places to stay for a Christmas trip to El Chorro? Thx!

The Olive Branch campsite is perfect, great location, facilities and hosts. Highly recommended.

In reply to xjz89: A second recommendation for the Olive branch! We stayed there in March and it was fantastic. Great hosts, perfect location and a cracking kitchen to cook in!

Can't recommend it highly enough!!!

In reply to xjz89: We've used a villa in Valle de Abdalajis.

A typical spanish town full of local charm. Great crags on outskirts of town with a good range of grades, but particularly friendly for those wanting easier grades.
Also, some good walks.

It's about 20 mins from El Chorro.

If you want more details, let me know and i'll e-mail.
In Wales for a few days now, so might be next week before i can reply.

Oh, and the price was comparable to much lesser accommodation.

Ah, the Spanish Royston Vasey!

I've always used finca la campa, no longer fashionable to stay there, this is a good thing, less tossers! Good pool, comfortable accomodation, helpful staff

olive branch is great. one crag is about 2 mins walk and all the rest are within an hours trek..no need for a car.
There will be loads of other british climbers staying there and the owners are brits too.. so no translation/ ripping off.
they also sell very cheap beer and will pick you up from the airport/ Alora for an extra charge.

Sorry to sabotage the thread, but we're also heading to El Chorro later in the year and looking to camp whilst we're there.

Any info on the difference / benefits of this campsite:

vs this campsite?

The first one isn't recommended by Rockfax as being pricey, but doesn't seem to be so - well, no more pricey for two people than the other campsite. Any opinions?

Another recommendation for the olive branch - we went in feb and hired a tent there. Great place, great value, great location, great people.

We were out there and 2 couples had moved from the first campsite to Olive Branch because of the smell. We didn't notice when we went there to eat and while walking through to climb but it obviously bothered them.
Another vote for the Olive Branch, bonus of a pool and Gary and Mel are great. We stayed B&B but the campers were given full run of the place. Everyone was great and we met a few other people to climb with.
