Hi

I am new to Bouldering and wandered if anyoneknows of any good sites up in the north lakes around Silloth as I have access to a caravan up there and thought it would make a good weekend away ?

Cheers

Tony
In reply to Tonnee:

St Bees is probably the closest, although the Bowderstones/Carrock aren't that far (although as a beginner the Bowderstone may not be your bedt bet). Check out Greg's site, http://www.lakesbloc.co.uk

Armathwaite is an option too, or you could continue around to the Dumfries side and visit the Thirlstane/ Clifton/ Sandyhills. Take a bit longer, and probably not as worthwhile.

On balance, I'd suggest St Bees (but be aware of the descent and the bird restrictions.
In reply to Tonnee: Fleswick Bay at StBees is v good for beginners (and non-boulderers), Honister boulders in Buttermere and Gillercombe Boulders via Honister Pass car park. Best of all for a bit of mountain rock is Carrock Fell which is accessible via Caldbeck from Siloth, has plenty of parking and is away from the busy tourist roads of the central Lakes.

You need this book for all the stuff, it's pretty good:

Enjoy (Take extra skin upto Carrock Fell)
