NEWS: F8a Deep Water Solo Repeat for Gav Symonds

[Christine 8a , 3 kb]Deep Water Solo Activist Gav Symonds has made what is thought to be the second deep water solo ascent of Christine, at Long Quarry Point, Anstey's Cove, Devon.

Christine is a classic F8a, first climbed by Ken Palmer back in 2002 and first soloed in 2003.

DWS would be related to cliff diving, which is covered here: http://adventure.howstuffworks.com/outdoor-activities/water-sports/cliff-di... (not the same of course, but the physics of hitting the water are).

Quote from the article: "If you jump from 20 feet (6 meters) above the water, you'll hit the water at 25 mph (40 kph)"

Kinda makes you think twice about highball DWS. Or at least make sure you know what you're doing.

Aaaaahh, so therefore cliff diving could be associated to base jumping, except of course you need a parachute and don't require water. . . .
