What do you do when you wild camp?

a) Do you hide and:
- Pitch your tent after dark so less people are aware you have arrived.
- Deliberatley hide yourself away where you are least likely to be seen.
- Avoid fires,, even where permitted so as to avoid attracting attention to yourself.
- Breakcamp before daybreak/before 7am.

b) Do you smile nicely and:
- Ask permission from the landlord to ensure your safety and reduce the likelyhood of being asked to move on.
- Camp in an unobstructive but open area where people can see you clearly.
- Camp openly so as not to suprise people if they stumble upon you.
- Camp openly so possible criminal action potentially perpetrated against you is more liekly to be visibele to other members of the public and the police.
- Camp openly and have a fire where permissable so as to be able to socialise.

In reply to Matt Maynard:

It massively depends on where I am. In countries where it is illegal to wild camp, I hide. Where it is allowed, I don't. Friends in a different party to me once had to do community service in the Czech republic after being caught wild camping. We'd spent our time waiting for dark and getting up at dawn to avoid getting caught.

In reply to Matt Maynard: In the US, I get a permit and give details of where abouts I would be camping on each day. I abide my the codes set for the area.
