NEWS: Gasherbrum II climbed Alpine Style - In Winter

Gasherbrum II, 3 kbToday, February 2nd, 2011 at 11:28 am PKT (Pakistan Standard Time), The North Face Athletes Simone Moro, Denis Urubko and Cory Richards reached the Summit of Gasherbrum II at 8,035m

This is the first 8,000er to be climbed in Karakorum in the Winter Season. Simone, Denis and Cory are now descending from the Summit to Camp 3.

Has Cory Richards ever done anything remotely like this before? I understood he was just there to take a few pictures. Seems like a hardcore trip for a beginner! Remarkable.
