In reply to UKC News:

It's not such a bad idea really. As a city youth I found it difficult trying to hitch rides to climb in the highlands as my pal and I couldn't pronounce the names of the hills we wanted to reach! We were in our own country but we may as well have been on the continent for the language barrier.

It would be really good if UKH could have a little audio link to someone saying the names of the hills in their logbook section.

In reply to UKC News: totally fell for this until the "we don't build railways up mountains". bloody glad it's a joke!
would be good if somebody would put up a website offering pronunciation for all the hills, and meanings would be nice too. never seen a comprehensive one yet, tho would love to be proved wrong...?

Actually many of the pronunciations on the Munro Magic site are inaccurate, Walk Highlands is a far better site if you want to hear how they're properly pronounced.

If Num Num had been the first one to bag all the Munros he would have named them: The Numros
