Ken Palmer on the crux of Rainbow bridge (F7a+), 3 kbAn historical account of the sea level traverses at Berry Head, South Devon.

It culminates in August 2010 with Ken Palmer's monster link up route The Wizard of Oz (F7b). Incorporating Rainbow Bridge in a new improved format, it is certainly a contender for Britain's finest climb.

....and I had always imagined that The Rainbow Bridge was named after the feature that the Gods cross to reach Valhalla at the end of Wagner's Das Rheingold!

Well, maybe it is, indirectly. I can see Jimi as a bit of a quiet Wagner fan.

Pat L not fit enough to climb Wizard of Oz - I'd believe that when I saw it.

Great article Pete, very inspiring! Looks like you've been getting out a fair bit as well. We were climbing at Gandia etc a few weeks before you by the looks of it - would have been strange to have bumped into you out there! See you around.
