As long as you like. 6 hours day one, 5 hours day two if you're in standard. You're better off going orienteering in than lots of running. Although that will help.

In reply to tim123487: We're up to it nav wise, just the running that will be interesting, although we're both pretty active neither of us are super fit!
cheers

Hey up Tim
Good on you for raising money for Parkinsons.

I am no expert but did the Rab last year.

Dont get too hung up on being super fit. obviously the fitter you are the better and the easier you will find the race. It is a much more relaxed pace than a fell race. You can only run as fast as you can navigate and nav is the key.

The Rab is a score event. They give you a map (a Harveys map) pre-marked with controls and a description of the conntrols, which are live that day. you then chose which ones to visit on the way to your over night camp. Then next day, as above but heading home. Here is a link to routegadget which shows Saturdays controls and our route http://www.darkandwhite.routegadget.co.uk/darkandwhite/reitti.cgi?act=map&a...

This is how it went for us

All the best

am feeling a bit more confident now as i know the lakes a fair bit and were both good at navigating in the hills so looks like we will be all good!!
